Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the Bluffton University Admissions blog!
I'm happy you stopped by, and hope you'll continue to check in from time to time for news about Bluffton and the work we do. It's good stuff!

First off, my name is Andrea Janzen, and I'm one of the admissions counselors here. I have a great time working with students from Southern Ohio (Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus,) so if you reside in any of those areas, I'm your contact person! (Hi!) The other counselors in my office work with students from different areas, so to find your counselor, click here: http://www.bluffton.edu/admission/counselors/find/

As an admissions counselor, I work with high school juniors and seniors who are currently involved in their college search. Now, this process can be overwhelming on many levels, so it is my job to provide answers to questions as they arise, meet with students and their families if they choose to visit campus and help sort through the piles of information they are likely swimming in to make looking at Bluffton as enjoyable and stress-less as possible!

If you are just beginning your college search, my first piece of advice is to take a deep breath and approach this as a journey. To make a good college decision, its best to allow yourself enough time to process all you see and do, talk with people you know and trust, weigh options, visit campuses and compare financial aid packages. Every college has it's own personality, fingerprint and rhythm. Your journey is finding the college that fits you best, and while this is slightly overwhelming, it can be a lot of fun!

You can start by visiting websites or requesting brochures to read more about what each college has to offer, but I highly recommend you take some time to visit the campuses for a face-to-face meeting with the place you may call home for the next four years. Admissions offices (like ours) are happy to set up personal visits that work with your schedule, so don't hesitate to let us know if you have a date in mind. Many schools also hold open house days, like our Discovery Days throughout the year. Most campus visits include a time with your admissions counselor and a tour, but if you'd like to talk with a professor, coach, or sit in on a class, that's fine!

Visiting is key, so we hope to see you soon:) click here to request your visit: http://www.bluffton.edu/admission/visit/scheduling/index.html

Well, that about does it from here for now. This is the time of year that we are working with students who are either very close to making their final college decision, or have already done so. It's been exciting to see all the new students who will join us in August as members of our Bluffton community. I hope to see you here soon as well.
Take care and happy spring!
-Andrea
